JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategy
(1) As a true business partner to the CEO, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and company's long-term strategy.
(2) Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
(3) Engage the board, finance, audit, and investment committees around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery.
(4) Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors).
(5) Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with company's strategic plan, especially as the organization considers sponsorships, potential acquisitions, and collaborations with external organizations. 2. Executive Management
(1) Serve as a member of executive leadership team.
(2) Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic finance initiatives.
3. Financial Planning and Analysis
(1) Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports.
(2) Complete analysis of financial results; develop recommendations (strategic and tactical).
(3) Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives.
(4) Assist in development of financial planning and analysis exercises/reports.
4. Finance
(1) Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
(2) Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.
(3) Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
(4) Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans.
(5) Oversee weekly cash management; approve weekly payables; execute check signing.
(6) Oversee AR management and provide support to collections activities.
5. Planning, Policy, and Investor Relations
(1) Coordinate development and monitoring of budgets.
(2) Develop financial business plans and forecasts.
(3) Participate in corporate policy development as a member of senior management team.
(4) Engage finance committee of the board of directors to develop short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections. (5) Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, auditors, public officials, etc.
(6) Represent company in efforts with investment bankers and potential investors.
(7) Prepare various analyses and reports required by corporate development efforts.
6. Accounting and Administration
(1) Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and function.
(2) Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
(3) Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting; oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
(4) Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.
(5) Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
7. Accounting Activities
(1) Oversee preparation of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements.
(2) Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation.
(3) Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.
(4) Serve as final point of escalation for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable issues.
(5) Develop and manage accounting staff.
(6) Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
1. A university degree in business, economics, or finance required; a CPA and/or MBA would be a plus.
2. At least five years experience as CFO or equivalent, preferably in a technology company.
3. Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
5. Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
6. Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
7. Fluent in Chinese and English.
8. Mature, passionate, professional, ambitious, resourceful and self-directed individual.
9. Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced startup environment.
